RE/MAX convention
March 12th, 2007 1:23 PM

Returned last Thursday from the Re/MAX convention in Atlanta. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. The energy, sharing and most of all the caring that abounded helped to cement for me where my place in the Rhode Island South County real estate market is going to be.

I met fellow agents and Broker owners from all over the world, including, South Africa, Switzerland, domincan Republic, and a lot from Canada. Included among them were the #8 Remax agent in the world in 2006, who gave an incredible seminar,  3 Diamond club members and hundreds of Platinum and Chairmans club members.

I got a whole new perspective on what being a RE/MAX agent means, and I am going to work as hard as I can to fulfill that obligation.

What does this do for those folks here in Westerly that I count among my friends? The focus that I have brought back and the methods that I was shown can only mean that I will have more enegry to doing the things I love, including working with Habitat, the Lions club, Childrens Miracle Network, and networking with those whom I can help and can help me. I also plan to do a lot more sailing this summer, as well as spending more time as an empty-nester with my wife of 27 years.

Spring is here!
March 27th, 2007 6:40 PM

Wow, what a great day. 67 degrees, sunny and lots of Lions Club members working at the Habitat for Humanity site in Westerly. We are steaming ahead to get the roof on, looks like that will happen next week.

Nancy, my wife, came home from work today, and I asked if she wanted to go to the beach. It is one of the perks to living in a beach community. Well, the waves were just incredible. Must have been at least 20 surfers out riding. Sort of reminds me of my youth, except I always tried riding, they did it.

We walked and than sat for a half hour just enjoying it all. Looking forward to lots more days like this. Hope you can join us.

Well, Habitat for Humanity took another step forward in it's quest to eliminate sub standard housing in South County today when a group of University of Rhode Island students who are heading to a build in Louisiana for spring break, spent the afternoon learning about construction and job sites, and at the same time building and erecting a whole bunch of interior walls at the 79 Pierce Street project in Westerly.

It was my great pleasure to be able to work along side, teaching and leading them, as they showed just how great the majority of the youth in this country is. We hear so many negatives, but it is rare for the media to celebrate the good things that are accomlished by a generation that seems to understand that giving back is just as important as getting ahead.
